How to Obtain CE Credits for ARRT

This is arguably the easiest part of the entire process. CE activities and credits are available wherever you look. You can find them online or at events like at a lecture series or conference. It’s up to you to choose how you want to obtain them.

Just know that things you do as part of your every day job don’t count. Taking a course that’s mandated by your employers, going to staff meetings, and learning CPR are all expected as part of your job.

How Many Credits You Need and Distribution

The number your credits you get from an activity will largely depend on its duration. If you do something for less than 15 minutes, you won’t get anything for it. Activities between 15 and 29 minutes will give you 0.25 credits. Those that spend from 30 to 44 minutes are worth half a credit. If you want a full credit you need an activity that’s between 50 and 62 minutes.

All radiology techs need 24 credits per 2 year period. This period isn’t the same for all people and has to do with when you get your license to practice. You’ll have to make sure you know when your 2 year period starts and ends.

There are ways to get lots of credits like doing research articles and writing textbooks. A single article will reward you with 10 credits. Writing an entire textbook will give you the full 24 articles you need, but writing a single chapter will give you 4 credits. You can get 6 credits by getting your ACLS certification.
